Mainline extension on the Hauraki Plains

To support the scale of the new effluent pond, we designed and installed a full-farm irrigation mainline system. This included:

• Rural Direct 90mm Effluent Pipe: Known for its durability and low friction loss, ideal for long-distance pumping.
  
• Williams 2 & 3-Way Riser Hydrants: Strategically placed across the farm to maximize irrigator flexibility.
• Williams Greenback Spider Travelling Irrigator: Chosen for its efficient, low pressure operation, making it a perfect match for long pumping distances.

One of the biggest technical hurdles was managing the distance from the pump to the furthest paddocks. Over long distances, head loss can significantly reduce system efficiency. By selecting low resistance pipework and an irrigator suited to these conditions, we were able to maintain high performance across the entire farm, this system is also future proofed with the option of including a link system to help maintain performance if required.

The results were;

• Full Farm Coverage: Effluent can now be irrigated across the entire property with ease.
  
• Reduced Labour: With hydrants conveniently located, the time required to move the irrigator has been dramatically cut.
  
• More Frequent Irrigation: Staff can irrigate more often, ensuring better nutrient distribution and storage management.
• Future-Proofed System: The setup can support further expansion or intensification.
