With deep roots in New Zealand's Hauraki Plains, Williams Effluent Solutions has been a trusted name in effluent management for over four decades. From our early beginnings in engineering, we've grown into industry leaders known for delivering innovative, reliable effluent systems. Our journey is built on a foundation of quality, family values, and a strong commitment to supporting New Zealand farmers.
With over 40 years experience Williams Effluent Solutions has evolved over the decades.
Founded by Neville and Angela Williams, N. L. Williams Ltd began as a small engineering workshop in Patetonga, which quickly outgrew its space.
In 1984, we expanded into a repurposed factory in Waitakaruru and started manufacturing the Kaiser range of effluent tankers and stirrers, producing over 100 units.
By 1990, Neville pioneered the iconic Williams Elephant Effluent Tank, a solution that would lay the groundwork for future innovations in effluent handling.
1991 was a year of milestones: Neville developed the first hydraulic mole plough to tackle drainage challenges on wet soils, launched the Spider irrigators, and established Williams Engineering as a dedicated business entity.
The Williams Super Spider, released in 1994, further expanded our offerings with an efficient design for effluent irrigation.
Neville built an onsite mould to pour concrete effluent sumps on farm. This concept was the first of its kind.
1996 saw the debut of the Williams “Deluxe” Travelling Irrigator, specially designed for electric pumps and medium-sized New Zealand farms; this model has set unmatched sales records.
Our products gained international traction, with the first Spider Irrigators shipped to the US in 1998, followed by our entry into the Australian market in 2000.
In 2002, Neville introduced the “Zero-Loss” Hydrant, a revolutionary hydrant that streamlined effluent line management, further enhancing operational efficiency.
Andrew Williams joined the family business in 2005, bringing fresh expertise from Quinn Engineering. His contributions spurred the development of innovative products, including the best-selling “Greenback” Travelling Irrigator in 2010.
After purchasing the business in 2011, Andrew continued the family legacy with the introduction of the GB Magnum irrigator, the first low-application rate travelling irrigator on the market.
Neville’s passing in 2014 marked the end of an era for Williams Engineering, but his legacy lives on through the products and innovations that bear his name.
In 2017, Williams Effluent Solutions earned accreditation in Farm Dairy Effluent System Design, reflecting our commitment to high standards and sustainable effluent management practices.
Formerly Williams Engineering, our 2024 rebrand to Williams Effluent Solutions reflects how the business has evolved with our ongoing commitment to New Zealand’s agricultural community. The rebrand now allows us to be aligned with both our manufacture, effluent system design and consulting work. Owned and operated by Andrew and Katie, we continue to deliver innovative products, reliable service, and exceptional support, backed by decades of experience.
Our focus has expanded to consulting, helping farmers meet regulatory requirements with ease. Compliance work has grown significantly, allowing us to provide even greater value as trusted advisors in effluent management, while our manufacturing continues to run smoothly.
Through it all, we remain dedicated to the values that started it all: quality, innovation, and providing the best service we can for our customers.
