Project

Our relationship with Richard Lynch spans over five years and is a great example of progressive on-farm development through collaboration and trust. What started with a major pond upgrade has evolved into a comprehensive, integrated effluent and feed pad system  future-proofed for both compliance and practical farm use.

What we did

2019 - The first major project was project managing and lining a new 40m x 40m x 3m effluent pond. This gave Richard a modern, environmentally secure storage solution and formed the foundation of his wider effluent system upgrades. We calculated the pond to a size to future proof for a feedpad.

2023 – Williams Moopoo Sump Installation - To replace an old barrier ditch system, we installed a 60-cube Williams Moopoo sump alongside his existing concrete stone traps. This gave him a tidy and easier to manage pumping sump, helping manage solids more effectively. Richard pumps directly to pasture as often as possible.

2024  Stone Trap and Feed Pad Integration with Floodwash System - we installed a new 26m x 6m solid sump. This was purpose-built to integrate with the new feed pad, allowing a seamless flow from feed pad to sump. The feed pad site was built up by Johnny Lowe on the digger, shaped to a 1.5% grade to ensure effective flood washing. We then installed a flood wash system that uses green water from the effluent pond. With the feed pad being 26m wide, Richard has the option to flood wash each 13m side independently, giving him greater control and efficiency. Flood wash water drains into a channel, then through the concrete stone trap, into the solid sump, and then on to the Williams Moopoo sump. From there, effluent can be irrigated directly to pasture or pumped back to the pond for storage if conditions aren’t suitable.

Lastly a Greenback Spider Travelling Irrigator completed this system. This unit provides low application depths, allowing safe irrigation over more days of the year and reducing reliance on storage.

By the numbers

Here how the impact of Willliams Effluent Solutions system design brought results for Atiamuri farm.

As an off-farm owner, I ultimately chose Williams Effluent Solutions due to their proven experience and the fact that they have the resources to manage the entire project from start to finish. Their ability to take full control of the process gave me peace of mind, knowing that the project would be completed to a high standard. Williams delivered on their promises and made the whole experience stress-free. I would recommend them for anyone looking for a reliable and professional team.
